How fast will you travel if you are one of these?

Speed of an object is the distance traveled by an object in a given period of time.

As per the Wikipedia, Speed is the magnitude of the rate of change of its position with time or the magnitude of the change of its position per unit of time.

The average speed is the distance travelled by the object divided by the duration of the interval.

The common unit of Speed measurement is kilometer per hour (km/h), or miles per hour (mph)

For kids, it is important to understand how big is one kilometer, and how fast different objects travel. You can assume one kilometer is ~1500 steps for a 10 years old kid.

If you are one of these, this is how fast you will be travelling :

Person walking : 5 km/h

Bicycle : 20 km/h

Car (on a highway) : 120 km/h

Fastest car : 435.3 km/h (Hennessey Venom GT)

Passenger aircraft : 880–926 km/h

Fighter jet : 2500 km/h (Mach 2.35). Mirage-2000

Rocket : 9,000 to 16,200 km/h

Light : 1080,000,000 km/h (1080 million km/h)

Interestingly, the distance between earth and sun is 151.3 million km. It takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds for light to travel from sun to earth.
